Little Red Schoolhouse

The program provides disadvantaged children access to complete elementary education through construction of schoolhouses and teacher training in public elementary schools located in remote, underserved areas nationwide. It also promotes the love and habit of reading among the schoolchildren through a reading program specially designed for 4th grade pupils, and builds the capability of parent-teacher-community associations (PTCAs) to support and maintain the schools.

The Little Red Schoolhouse was launched in 1997 and has completed 93 schoolhouses as of June 2012. The 100th schoolhouse will be completed within 2012, in celebration of the 100th year of Coca-Cola in the Philippines.

Project partners are the Department of Education, Philippine Business for Social Progress, Sa Aklat Sisikat Foundation, and Aklat, Gabay at Aruga Tungo sa Pag-angat at Pag-asa (AGAPP) Foundation.
